The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has directed teachers enrolled in the Public Service Superannuation Fund (PSSF) to register on the Member Self-Service Portal by July 12, 2026, warning that failure to do so could delay access to pension services and retirement benefits.

Teachers who complete registration before the deadline will benefit from faster digital pension services, improved record management and smoother retirement benefit processing.

TSC Orders Teachers to Register on PSSF Pension Portal Before July 12 Deadline

TSC has issued an urgent directive to teachers covered under the Public Service Superannuation Fund.

In a circular dated July 9, the commission instructed all regional, county and sub-county directors to ensure eligible teachers complete registration on the PSSF Member Self-Service Portal before the deadline.

The exercise forms part of the government's transition to a fully digital pension management system.

Thousands Yet to Register

According to TSC, teachers make up about 334,442 members of the pension fund.

However, only around 20,000 teachers have so far updated their details on the digital platform.

The commission says low registration could affect members' ability to manage their retirement records.

TSC Warns Against Missing Deadline

The commission cautioned that teachers who fail to register may be unable to monitor their pension contributions and could face delays when processing retirement benefits.

Members can register through the PSSF website or the PSSF Pension App available on Google Play.

Teachers have also been instructed to complete and submit PSSF 2 Beneficiary Nomination Forms to ensure their retirement benefits are properly assigned.

Part of Wider Pension Reforms

The registration exercise supports reforms introduced under the Public Service Superannuation Scheme Act.

The law moved public servants, including teachers, from a non-contributory pension arrangement to a defined contribution scheme, where both employees and employers make regular pension contributions.

The funds are invested to build members' retirement savings over time.
