The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has warned students and parents against fraudulent inter-university transfer application forms circulating online, clarifying that the official transfer window has not yet opened.
Students should await KUCCPS' official announcement before applying for transfers and avoid unofficial links or payments to protect themselves from fraud.
KUCCPS Issues Fraud Alert Over Fake Transfer Applications
In a notice issued on Friday, July 10, the placement agency urged learners to ignore misleading information claiming that inter-institutional transfer applications are already underway.
KUCCPS said it will announce the official application dates through its website, X account and the KUCCPS Student Portal.
"Students, parents and the general public are advised that KUCCPS has NOT started receiving inter-institutional transfer applications," the agency stated.
Fraudsters Target Students Seeking Course Changes
The warning comes just days after KUCCPS released the 2026/2027 placement results, with thousands of students seeking opportunities to change institutions or programmes before the September intake.
According to KUCCPS, fraudsters have been circulating a Google Form in student groups and online forums, falsely claiming to facilitate transfers between universities, TVET institutions, KMTC colleges, and teacher training colleges.
The fake application also demands Ksh1,000 for the transfer process and an additional Ksh600 service fee through a mobile money payment before applicants can submit their details.
KUCCPS cautioned students against making any payments or sharing personal information through unofficial platforms.
Official Transfer Process
The placement agency reiterated that all legitimate transfer requests will only be processed through the official KUCCPS Student Portal once the transfer window is opened.
Under the official procedure, applicants will:
- Log into the KUCCPS Student Portal.
- Select the inter-institutional transfer option.
- Choose their preferred institution or programme.
- State the reason for the transfer.
- Pay the prescribed Ksh1,000 application fee using an eCitizen payment reference code before submitting the request.
No other payment channels or external application forms have been authorised.
Fresh Warning After Placement Results
The advisory comes after KUCCPS placed 293,869 students into degree, diploma, certificate and artisan programmes for the September 2026 intake.
The agency believes fraudsters are exploiting the uncertainty among students hoping to change institutions or courses following the release of placement results.
