The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has reminded students and other applicants that they can conveniently track their loan applications through digital platforms without visiting its offices.

HELB Provides Multiple Ways to Check Loan Status
Applicants can monitor the progress of their funding applications through the HELB online portal, USSD service and mobile application.
Those using the online portal can log into their accounts and access their loan information to check the latest status of their applications.
Applicants without internet access can use their mobile phones by dialling *642# and following the prompts to view their loan application status.
HELB has also made its mobile application available to applicants who want to access loan information and monitor applications directly from their smartphones.
Students Can Track Applications Without Visiting HELB Offices
The digital tracking options are intended to make it easier for applicants to follow their applications without physically travelling to HELB offices.
Students awaiting funding can establish whether their applications are still being processed, have progressed or require additional action.
The services also provide applicants with a convenient way to remain informed as HELB processes applications under its different education financing programmes.
HELB Continues Processing Education Loans
The reminder comes as HELB continues to process applications for several financing programmes supporting students and employed Kenyans pursuing higher education and professional training.
Among the available programmes is the 2026/27 Jielimishe Loan, which allows salaried learners to access up to Ksh600,000 to finance university, postgraduate, professional and other approved higher education programmes while continuing to work.
The programme provides an opportunity for employed Kenyans to pursue further education without necessarily leaving their jobs.
Civil Servants Can Access Up to Ksh500,000
HELB has also opened applications under the Civil Servants Training Revolving Fund, offering education loans of up to Ksh500,000.
The programme targets employees working in national and county governments, the National Police Service and the Teachers Service Commission.
The financing is intended to support eligible employees seeking higher education, professional training and career advancement.
HELB Urges Applicants to Monitor Their Applications
With different loan programmes currently supporting students and employed Kenyans, applicants are being encouraged to regularly check their application status.
Using the online portal, *642# USSD service or HELB mobile application can help applicants identify updates without relying entirely on physical visits or waiting for direct communication.
The digital services also give applicants greater visibility over their funding applications as the Board processes loans.
Digital Tracking Makes HELB Services More Accessible
The expansion of digital tracking options reflects the growing use of online services in education financing.
For students and other applicants, the ability to check loan information remotely can save time and reduce the need to visit HELB offices.
As applications continue under various financing programmes, applicants can use the available digital channels to stay updated and take action promptly whenever their applications require additional information or follow-up.
